for squall
[ The Warrior explains with a smile as he walks around a corner holding a box of assorted items that are poking out of it. He's in the middle of showing Squall the new house that he's bought and while things have more or less been moved over, there's still the few odds and ends that he needs to retrieve from the other cottage, though the cats seem to have followed for the most part.
Coming to a door near the back of the house on the first floor, the Warrior carefully maneuvers the box in hand to reach for the doorknob, pushing the door open after giving it a twist. ]
This one... [ He comes to pause for a moment, stepping aside as he allows Squall to take a look inside. ] ...well, if you ever need some place to stay, I thought that it would be something you might find suitable.
[ There's not much aside from the bed, pillows, a small table, and some books and the like here and there and by no means is it a big room but, well, it's good for one person? Or perhaps a few cats for that matter.
With a tilt of his head, the Warrior tries to catch Squall's reaction to the room. ]
I am sure the cats will take care of it for you when you are not using it.
[ Judging from the ball of yarn already there. ]

That's when they stopped at a room toward the back and his jaw dropped slightly. His heart seemed to stop and his eyes grew wide. He turned his head toward WoL and then back to the room in front of them. His.... very own room? He didn't even have something like that back at Auron's place, not that he'd expect it... which is why this was rather touching. ]
It's.... mine?
no subject
If you would like.
[ There's even a window for Squall to crawl in and out of. ]
I thought that perhaps it could be something that you might find use when visiting or should you simply need a place to stay.
[ He's aware that Squall lives with Sora and the others of the house but, to have some place for him to stay outside of that, given his knowing how Squall can be at times, well, it's something he thought the other might appreciate... and to know that he has a place here. ]
I trust you won't mind the company you may have with you on some days.
[ As no sooner does he say such a thing does the kitty with a round little belly walk their way into the room and begin sniffing around. ]
no subject
[ Squall fidgeted silently, wringing his hands a few times. ]
Then... I appreciate it.
no subject
You do not take up space within this house or within my life.
[ A nod and gentle pat to that shoulder, the Warrior shifts away from the door then to go and set the box down on the table out near the kitchen. ]
Sora is still encased within the crystal then, I am assuming?
no subject
He frowns to himself mostly after hearing Warrior's question, rubbing the back of his neck. ]
Yeah... still solid as a rock.
no subject
You'll need to catch him up on everything when he returns to us. [ Resting his arms on the box, he smiles a little to Squall. ] I am sure he will want to know it all.
[ Taking the hammer to hold between his hands, he watches Squall for a moment before he holds said hammer out towards him. ]
But for the moment, perhaps you can help me with something. I may not be as cute as Sora but I always do appreciate your company with me.
no subject
Whatever.... what do you need help with?
[ he appreciated any distraction from Sora he could get, intentional or not. ]
no subject
[ The Warrior gestures to some planks of wood that are wrapped in carpet laying about on the floor in the living area. ]
I thought if you could put that together, I can finish unpacking the rest of the things here.
[ Especially since he's sure some of the cats would like to scratch their nails on their little tower again. ]

for gabranth
So, for him to see the other here in the marketplace, well... it's not exactly anything out of the ordinary. However, given how they had left each other last, there's a moment where the Warrior wonders if he should approach him what with feeling... different now, since his return. ]
And so we meet again it seems.
[ He says this as he comes up alongside the other man, his hair tied back into a ponytail and slightly damp from the earlier rain that had fallen while traveling to the marketplace; thankfully it had been a light drizzle and nothing more. ]
It has been some time.
no subject
Gabranth doesn't know how to be friends, or how to hold his precious people close, but even more cared for than Warrior, one of his most precious, most special people is here, and he cannot help but be changed by it. ]
It has. The time has treated you well?
[ Gabranth hadn't sought Warrior out after Selenium, and then had been too busy to even think about seeking him out much later after that, what with Lord Larsa around, and the trip to the new city, and also that... Valentione's Day nonsense.
He's a little distracted still, seeking out fresh produce that reminds him of Landis, of home. He wants to make something special for Larsa, and its gotten him a little side-tracked in his mind.
It is only when he turns and catches a glimpse of Warrior that he stops. The man looks—beyond a little damp—rather different. A different way of carrying himself, perhaps. ]
You've become more resolved and certain of yourself, then? [ He seems more at peace, at least, and that is— ] Good.
no subject
I suppose much has happened within the short amount of time of being removed from this world.
[ A nod, he looks to the things that Gabranth seems to have for himself, wondering if it's all for him and him alone. ]
But I could say the same for you, it seems. [ Pausing, he comes to tilt his head a little. ] A difference in your presence alone.
no subject
It is amazing, what the presence of loved ones can do. Lord Larsa, who is as near a little brother to him as Noah would ever claim.
Gabranth is glad of the change. Glad that Lord Larsa is here, as well, and away form the burdens of Ivalice. That he has this chance to be a child, as he never truly had before, and will not have again. ]
It has done me well, to be able to watch over him again.
[ And then, after a moment. ]
You should meet him, I think. He is radiant with light, especially for one so young.
no subject
To have someone from his world here with him... someone he seems to care a great deal for... well, that would certainly make sense for the change in demeanor. ]
Those who are, especially from such a young age, should be protected, I agree.
[ He nods at that, allowing blue eyes to have their gaze drift past Gabranth for a moment. ]
I take it he is staying with you then? No doubt this place will feel something akin to home soon enough then.
no subject
We are staying together, yes, though I do think we will be trying to move closer to the outskirts of the city, with more room, and more privacy. It is... relieving to us both, to see the other well.
And a welcome break from home, as well, as comfortable as we may find it.
[ Gabranth turns to Warrior. ] And you, then? With Firion and your cats, things have been settling for you?
no subject
I've relocated to a larger place. [ He nods again, allowing blue eyes to have his gaze wander for a moment. ] More space for those who wish to stay should they need a place a stay... or should those who are my comrades appear within this world.
[ Because he has them now... not from the conflict... but from Cornelia.. his home. ]
Perhaps you should visit sometime with your Lord.
I knew I'd lost a tag somewhere....
And I am glad, too, that you have friends to want to welcome, should they come. [ Warrior had always seemed something of a man displaced. To see him now, Gabranth would not have guessed that he had been so.
And, actually... ]
You and I should go on a Hunt, some time. [ Gabranth has only skimmed most of the job boards since he has been here, sticking with working odds and ends, and lingering about the library, but surely someone will occasionally post Marks—or their Verens equivalent—on them. ]
for kain
However, what does catch his interest is the fact that he seems to know the one who is lingering around it... one he has not seen for some time now and... it suddenly makes sense why he hasn't. Never mind the fact that he had disappeared from this world for a short time.
Coming closer, the Warrior wears a bit of a smile on his face as he approaches the dragoon, a paper bag tucked under his arm with his armor not worn for the day. ]
I suppose it does what it is intended to.
[ The tent, he means. ]
no subject
Kain isn't expecting visitors, he hasn't made much of an effort to get to know everyone around him. There's little point when he doesn't intend on staying long after all. So when the Warrior speaks up he glances over, caught mid-spar with some imaginary foe.]
I don't see any reason to get too comfortable here.
no subject
[ The Warrior smiles a little knowingly at that, a bow of his head before he comes to step a little closer though respects the distance between them at the same time. ]
That is true and I would not disagree with you on that matter. [ A pause, he glances around, the weather not having been blue and sunny as of late. ] However, it seems that there are those who have been here for years while others spend a mere few months. The choice for when we leave is not up to us.
[ Looking back to Kain, he tilts his head some. ]
Some of us even seem to return here.
no subject
Of course. The knowledge of how random things are do not sit well. [ How does anyone make any kind of long term plans in this place when they don't know if they're coming or going? For Kain it's bad enough suddenly having time on his hands, the not having a number on it is enough to have the young man on edge. What if he made plans then suddenly left? What if he made no plans and wound up there for years? It's a conundrum he never expected to have.
Warrior's presence isn't an invited one, but it's still welcome nonetheless, a distraction from the ongoing questions that make themselves known.]
It doesn't bear thinking about, leaving this place only to be snapped back up. That happened to you?
no subject
His question, however, has the Warrior nod, a hum being given shortly after as he looks towards the sky. ]
It seems so. I was returned to a conflict that, while similar to one we both fought within, was different with those involved... even the stakes seemed to be much different this time.
[ Looking back to Kain, he reaches into his paper bag and pulls out a piece of fruit, offering it to him. ]
Perhaps rather than coming to make long-term plans, simply living in the moment is the best course of action to take.
no subject
For now it looks like a conversation will be had and Kain opts to just go with it, undoing the clasps on his helm and removing it before taking the offered ppiece of fruit with a murmured thanks. A break was due anyway even if it did gall the dragoon to think as much.]
That would be the problem. Living in the moment is a good sentiment, but none of us know how long we'll be here. It could be days, it could be years and going so long without any kind of plans would do no-one any good.
[ Kain knows he doesn't need to say the rest, that making plans and vanishing would be equally so bad.] Did you remember this place when you returned?
no subject
[ A pause, the Warrior curiously looks to the dragoon. ]
We know not when our time will come to an end, even within battle itself... we have just as much a chance to survive as we do to die.
[ Certain circumstances aside, there are still moments when a situation seems grim and that there is no possible way to survive... only to do just that. Somehow, some way. ]
To live with the constant fear that nothing will last forever, that our time is limited... it's not really living, is it?
[ However, the question posed has the Warrior hum and he glances up towards the sky. ]
No, I did not. But I remember returning home upon coming back to this world and the events that took place prior.
no subject
What the Warrior says about remembering this place gets a raised eyebrow. So the other only remembered this place upon returning to it? It sure does bring up an interesting dilemma, Kain wondering how many people were back in their homes, unaware they had been whisked away not just once, but multiple times? Sure, it's no concern when they don't remember, but there has to be some kind of a reason to it.]
Why do they feel the need to keep this place such a secret that those who come here don't remember it? If they need help so desperately one would think it would be the opposite.
[ Kain knows that it could also attract the wrong types, the warmongers, those who would wish to do everyone harm, but he still can't help but voice his thoughts out loud on the matter as if subconsciously using the Warrior as a sounding board.]
