Summary: two keyblade wielders taking up a job in Shaarnath that lands them in some hot water with fiends, awkward conversations, and discoveries.

[ Riku unzips the tent that they set up earlier and pokes his head out, goggles covering his eyes as he does so. Judging from the sandstorm (eyy) that came out of nowhere so quickly, they're about a few hours behind schedule than what they had originally planned but with the storm having passed now, they can finally make their way out to the West as instructed. ]

Doesn't look too bad out there now.

[ He says that as he comes back inside the tent and begins to gather up his items, stuffing them into his bag. The gear they have is what anyone would need for a few days worth out in the desert and their attire goes along with it, Riku glad to have the goggles so as not to get sand in his eyes and be blinded before they can even get to where they need to be.

Shrugging the strap of his back over his shoulder, he looks over to Roxas, holding out the canteen for him then should he want a drink; gotta stay hydrated out here after all. ]

We lost a couple hours but it should be easy enough to get them back.

Yeah, sounds good.

[ Because they definitely need all of this to take with them on this little adventure of theirs. Which, thankfully, isn't much and doesn't take too long to do. ]

We should be good with food supplies if this ends up taking another day or two.

[ Because that's the more important thing for them to worry about rather than monsters and whatever else might be out here: lack of food and water in the desert of all places. ]

Let's hope it doesn't take longer than that.

[He's seen what foraging in a desert can be like, and he's not drinking the cactus juice.

He almost left Sora behind once and that same courtesy will be extended to Riku.

There's a moment to adjust his pack and his goggles and he's ready to go.]

Which way was it again? It's hard to tell with all this sand.

[ Does this mean it's fine if Riku leaves Roxas behind then? No, because Sora wouldn't like it.

With compass in hand, Riku looks back down to it again and points off in the direction he's heading, making sure to pull his scarf up a little to cover his mouth from any flyaway sand that might kick up from the dry winds. ]

This way.

[ He says that as he goes. ]

Maybe we'll get lucky and catch a break.

[ Although he doubts it. ]

[Roxas would accept it, but then he's also not going to drink the cactus juice so no one has to worry.

Roxas takes a moment to adjust his gear before the wind picks up again. There's a muffled exhale. Him? Get lucky? Please.]

Wouldn't that be the day.

[He'll follow behind after one last look around.]

Are there any landmarks we should be looking out for?

[ Coming to pull out the sheet of paper that has their directions on it, Riku glances down to it amid a sudden dry breeze that sweeps up a little sand their way. ]

Aside from the wreckage of a ship where this cargo is supposed to be? Not really.

[ A beat. ]

Unless you count mountains of sand as a landmark.

[ Tucking the paper back in his pocket, he continues on. ]

Just says to keep going west mostly since that's where the ship was last seen heading in.

Considering all the mountains look the same, it doesn't really help.

Guess we just keep heading west then.

[Though he does pick up the sandboard that they brought. It would probably help speed things up.]

Let's go, while it's still nice.

[ West it is then. ]

Let's just hope it stays nice and we don't run into anything we can't handle.

[ Though, to be fair, it's precisely why he had asked Roxas to come along with him what with Sora's current state and all. ]

[Roxas makes a noise that comes off as skeptical. If this going anything like the missions he used to do with the Organization, that's probably coming.

They trek for a few hours across the desert as the sun reigns high above them. Eventually Roxas stops and looks around, trying to focus on something in the distance.]

Are we still going the right way? I think I see something.

[ When the blond comes to stop, so does Riku, looking off in the direction where Roxas seems to see something. It's... a building? From the looks of it? Which, in all honesty, is a little strange to be out here in the desert of all places when there's little sign of any sort of town or city anywhere close by. ]

Yeah, I think I see it, too.

[ A quick glance to the compass. ]

It's not exactly on our radar but... maybe we should check it out.

Yeah...it might give us a clue, and at the very least, it's a landmark.

[And it might give them a bit of shade. He'll glance at Riku, and then continue.]

[ The shade would be nice, he can't deny that and so, he continues on with Roxas after a mutual glance is exchanged between them.

As they approach the building, Riku ensures to remain on his guard considering they know nothing of this place and any sort of possible threats that might be looming nearby. While he doesn't manifest his Keyblade at the moment, it's a thought kept in the back of his head as he approaches the door and pushes it open. ]

Guess no one's home if it's not locked...

[Roxas's guard is up and he's looking around constantly, just in case. It reminds him of Agrabah, this desert, and things can always come up out of the sand if you're not careful.]

Looks abandoned. I'm not sure why anyone would want to live out here.

Not like there's much out here.

[ He says that as he steps his way inside, still mindful of their surroundings as they go. ]

Then again, maybe that was the point.

[ Even as he says that, he heads over to a couple barrels lined up, some tipped over, curious with what they might have once contained. ]

[Roxas wanders over to examine a table or desk. There's a lot of dust.]

You think they might have been doing something shady?

[Or illegal? Or just plain bad?]

Well, you're the one who's been here the longest out of the rest of us, right?

[ Throwing it back to the blond that if anyone might have a better idea about that, it would be hime what with everything that he's gone through here. ]

I guess...but I kinda stayed out of stuff like that.

Looks like they were doing something though, based on all these books.

[Roxas tended to keep to himself, unless it had to do with wyverns.]

[ He can't blame him for doing so to be honest. ]

Looks like it.

[ He confirms that, allowing the tips of his fingers to brush over a couple of them. ]

Maybe something to do with the Arehtei?

It's possible. Do you think we should take them back with us?

[He goes to leaf through one of them, but coughs a bit because of the dust. It takes a moment before he actually starts doing so.]

It looks like they're in okay condition.

Well, don't see anyone's name on it, so.

[ It's theirs for the taking? Besides, doesn't really look like anyone's going to be missing these around here. ]

Maybe not all of them. We don't want them to end up weighing us down.

[ And this is not why they came here. ]

One or two should probably do, and we can let them know where to find the rest?

[He takes a moment to skim through them before making a decision on which ones to take.]

Is there anything else?

That should be it.

[ Since there doesn't seem to be much else around here for them to take back with them. ]

Good thing this place wasn't boobytrapped.

Yeah, that would have sucked.

[And something they probably should have checked for in the first place.]
