[OPEN] Unrequited Love Potion Cookies
Who: Evie and YOU (and maybe anyone you wanna love)
Where: Sweetie Pies, Verens
When: November 1st, effects through the 3rd
Format: Started in prose, but brackets are cool.
Open/Closed Open
Summary: Evie attempts to make Cheer Up cookies. Instead, she accidentally whips up a batch of Unrequited Love Potion Cookies.
Notes: Love effects are temporary, lasting from a few hours to a couple of days, depending how many your character snarfs. Log is open to any/all accidental crushes, doesn't have to just be Evie.
It truly did start off with all innocence and good intentions. Evie didn't even mean to magic the cookies, honest! She's an Auradon girl through and through (okay okay, she's still got a naughty streak) and believes in the ban on magic. She absolutely wasn't trying to make a love potion, though her mind had gone to the possibilities of it when Ventus couldn't talk and she just knew all he needed was True Love's Kiss to fix that.
That's where the idea to bake came from. Spell or no spell, Mal's recipe for cookies truly was the best and tastiest, and Evie mostly had it memorized. She figured without the incantation, they'd just be cookies. Cheering up cookies. Like the kind Lonnie talked about baking with her mom. And that was where things went wrong: thinking about Lonnie. Lonnie who's name was on the Wall this morning, and right on the heels of that poor dragon dying too.
Evie was mixing the batter and missing her friend, thinking about the last time she baked cookies. She'd been with Mal, Carlos and Jay then, when Lonnie had walked in on their mischief and befriended them. Without meaning too, a tear fell and landed right in the batter. Then another. And another. Then before she knew it the cookie dough was completely infused with with her missing her friends and Dizzy and Doug. Not just tears of sadness, but tears of feeling alone, and longing for her loved ones.
The cookies baked up just lovely. Soft and chewy chocolate chip ones with a buttery scent. Evie set them out on a serving tray, so she could hand them out to any bakery customers who seemed especially down today. Free of charge, just a little pick-me-up treat to take home. Handed over with a smile and well wishes, without any idea she was inflicting them with an unrequited love potion.

"Here, a little something just for you."

[ Open ]
[Asbel is busy perusing the various pastries and pies on display, his expression solemn and mildly thoughtful when he's interrupted by Evie's offer and... Well gee, it sure does smell good? And freshly baked. Who could resist?]
Better not. I won't be able to stop at just one.
[His mouth quirks slightly, though it doesn't quite reach his eyes. Still, he takes it gratefully.] ...Thanks, Evie. So what else is new today?
[Without a second thought, Asbel takes a bite. It's got an interesting flavor. Kind of salty, mixed with the sweetness of the chocolate chips? Hrmm... And something else. He's not sure what, though.]
no subject
My friend Lonnie's gone. I'm gonna miss her so much. But I know she'll look out for our friends; she's one of the bravest people I know.
And, she's the one who taught me about putting chocolate chips into cookies.
[The smile on Evie's face might contradict the signs of her eyes misting over, but she does mean it. No one is better qualified to get Ben safely back to Auradon from the Isle. And she's determined to keep a positive outlook no matter how much she now feels frightfully alone.
She hops once, slides the tray onto the counter, and loops her hand around Asbel's arm.]
What about you? How have you been?
no subject
[But, you know, it hurts a little, too.]
Lonnie sounds like an amazing person, Evie. [He pauses, frowning a little.] And...so are you, so... let's keep doing what we can for everyone here, all right?
[Asbel tries a smile, giving her hand a reassuring pat.]
And, well, not so different from you, I guess... Hey, but I've finally taught myself how to make a decent curry? Chocolate chips are some pretty tough competition, though.
no subject
But wait, a food that's a competition for chocolate chips? This bears investigating further.]
Curry? That sounds good. Could you teach me how to make it too?

Normally, he would refuse the offer, politely, but since he doesn't quite know Evie well enough to start a deeper conversation, he figures the least he could do is accept them, and offer as honest a compliment as possible as to the quality of the bake. Whatever comfort that might be.
"I apologise, again, for having put this off for so long." He offers Evie something that lopsidedly approaches a rueful smile, before taking a bite out of the cookie.
It tastes... very good actually, soft and chewy with pops of chocolate, not too sweet. It also feels a bit like swallowing one of Larsa's potions, the tingle of Magicks or Mist, but perhaps that's just the trick of his memory.
"I confess I... haven't the slightest idea what sort of wardrobe I would like, or what is in the mode, so I am going to place my trust in your capable hands, and give you free reign of it."
He's here today, after all, in what is clearly an all black set of under-armor leathers, and a few pieces of plate. Not exactly casual clothing.

Her smile warms up and she flicks her hand to wave away the apology. "It's quite alright. You've been busy. And it gave me some time to do a little planning. Just a second."
She slides the tray onto the counter, gives it a little nudge with her hip, then goes into the back. When Evie returns, it's laden with a large sketchbook with ample designs. Clothing she's simply daydreamed, some she's designing for her friends at home, and some with Gabranth in mind. He's welcome to examine all of them.
"Just have a look here and if you see something you like, we'll start with that." Meanwhile, Evie is having a look over at him. Assessing the leather (nice choice!), the cut of it (also nice!), his body's build (yum), and the plate (ehhh too stiff and stuffy). It's one thing to need armor for work or as the school mascot, and something entirely different to turn up in it as everyday wear. "I do like the leather though. It's quality material."
no subject
"These are quite delicious, do you mind if I take a few with me? My young lord would certainly appreciate them, I am sure."
He sets his cookie aside down on a napkin to accept the sketchbook of designs, and begins to flip through carefully, inspecting the illustrations on each of the pages. They are all quite creative, and not a few of the more elaborate designs remind him of some of the more interesting fashion choices back in the Archadian court. Definitely nice, but his inclination is towards the more simple designs.
"Thank you. It's meant to be very durable as the under-armor for my full-plate, but since I have little need to wear it all these days, I've been wearing it alone. Something similar to this, with a good leather, would be delightful, as well as a few things that are a touch more casual, with a freer range of movement."
He lingers longer of some of the sketches that have been labeled for a young man named 'Jay'. Some of them are more complex, but the designs overall silhouette seem fairly streamlined, which appeals to him.
"These are fairly nice, though perhaps slightly more austere versions of them." He turns back to Evie to offer her something of a smile. "I admit, though, I am certainly open to experimentation."

While Gabranth is looking at the designs and snacking cookies, Evie slides up to his side and rests her head against his bicep. It's easier to see what he's looking at this way, especially with him being taller than herself. That, and she's more than a little curious at the feel. Purely for the sake of fashion, of course. Nice, very very nice.
But she isn't wholly distracted by touching a very well-built man. A little perhaps, but she's also paying keen attention to what he's saying, and not saying. Noting which designs he lingers on longer than others, watching where on the page his eyes fall first and last.
When he lingers on the designs for Jay, Evie's heart squeezes. She misses her friend so much and would love nothing more than to curl up with him to talk. And probe him about Lonnie. Ahem. However, she schools away the heartache for a later time so it doesn't show on her face. "That's something I want to make for my friend Jay. He's the captain of the R.O.A.R. team. Super talented and athletic. I try to make sure his clothes have good mobility, but are still durable. He's rough on fabrics." She giggles softly and then traces a finger along the contour of the jacket on the page. "He's insanely good looking too. Every girl at our school is half in love with him."
She gives the page another long look, noting the places she feels that a choice for Jay would be well suited for Gabranth as well. Then she reaches out to flip the sketchbook forward a couple more pages, settling on something more suited to an adult than a teenage tourney player.
"Something like this?"

Evie you are far too nice to this grump.
nah, that's not possible!

So he’s just checking on people, giving them a call or visiting them just to see how they were doing. Once he found out what had been missing, after the mess with the Arethei it’s not surprising that he’s a little worried.
Eventually, he ends up paying a visit to Evie. Only to be greeted with cookies, apparently.
“Don’t mind if I take one, then.” He says as his lips twitch into a small but still honest smile.
“I’m glad to see you doing well, Evie.”
no subject
She bounces nervously when he takes the cookie, as baking is something she's only just learning to do. Sometimes with very messy results. But so far these look really good.
"Thank you! It's so good to see you again too." There's absolutely no need to bring the mood down by moping for her missing friend, right? And in the spirit of remembering practically everyone she meets and particularly their clothes, she asks, "How did the costumes go over? The night got so busy I couldn't find you to check."
no subject
"They went well, you're... an artist." He grins as he motions at the cookie. "In more ways than one, it seems. I am pretty bad in the kitchen so this may as well be magic to me."
Ha, ha, funny you say that Clarus. He takes another bite of the cookie, the biggest sign it's actually pretty damn perfect. "My friends were pretty impressed by the suits, even though I'm pretty sure Cor wished I had been joking when I said someone had been willing to make them. Is your business going well?"
no subject
Which is fine by Evie. Sure she grew up having memorized her mother's spellbook, but she agrees with the ban on magic. Look what a mess they've all gotten into with Ben and Uma and yeah Mal too from the ongoing use of gateway magic.
However, she does have to admit that she's really proud that the cookies seem to be a hit with everyone. Just proof positive that you don't have to use magic to make tasty treats.
"I'm so glad they were a hit. It was so much fun making them." Evie reaches over and grabs a cookie for herself and pops a bite into her mouth. They are tasty! And Clarus is so nice to ask about her budding business. "It's getting better. I had a slump around the time Sweetie Pies got trashed, but it's picked up again. Costumes for the carnival really helped a lot. And a friend commissioned a whole wardrobe overhaul. I can't wait to work on it."

Forever late as usual >>
"Hail, Clarus!" He calls out, until he catches up, and offers Clarus a large grin.
"How have you been?"
worth the wait as always <3
Clarus replies with a grin of his own as he takes his last bite of the frankly delicious cookie. Nothing seems out of the ordinary for now, he’s just happy to see a friend and one of the few people who can actually relate to him in this world that isn’t his own son.
“I have been well, considering I have been taking a nap inside of a crystal until recently. It seems like I’ve missed quite a bit.”
He tilts his head, glancing at the man up and down. “What about you? Are you doing alright?”
It’s, somehow, pretty important for Clarus right now to know how he's being doing. But that's not all that weird, is it? He's always been pretty overprotective of the people he loves.

Hm. No harm in trying one, is there?)
(ooc | Open to either side. Just let me know which side eats the cookies.)
clearly this is the perf way for them to meet
Me too, actually. They all look so good. But I think I'm gonna go with... this one. [ Which she'll gladly take. ] And maybe this one.
what better way than love potions?
(It's a happy cookie. How dangerous can it be? Finally deciding to dive in, he takes the first bite.) Mmm..it's okay. (That's code for 'it's good'. Noctis speak takes a bit of time to learn.) The frosted one's okay, if you're looking for one.

He notices Noctis there, probably doing his own shopping for the house and gives him a nod.]
He already wants to apologize to his dad
(Iris hasn't shown yet. Instead of placing the order himself, he decides to wait for her input. That doesn't mean he can't have a treat of his own. One cookie, a bite missing, rests in his hand.)
I wouldn't have guessed you'd be a fan of sweets.

(That's a high compliment from Noctis. He's a prince after all, and he'd been given the finest foods since birth. When he was allowed, he traded it for cup noodles, but he had the fine food nonetheless.
Popping the last of the cookie into his mouth, he nods toward the boxes but swallows before speaking.)

Kuroko, Midorima, and Akashi are working toward a home, which means moving. After a day at the library, he decides to stop by and get a treat for the hard night before him. The cookies are a tempting offer.
With one of his own, he'll speak to the nearest customer.)
Would you like a cookie?

(A domestic baker, Tatsumi is capable of baking his own sweets, but there's something about going to a shop and getting sweets that feels special. It's a treat instead of a habit, but why not indulge on occasion?
The assassin is sitting to the side, a few cookies in front of him. They're a new attraction, he's told, so he wanted to give them a try.)
But I think I got too many...Hey? (He isn't too shy to approach someone, friend or stranger.) Want one?

[She shook her head.]
I'm afraid I can't eat while I'm working, but I'll try one later. Still, it's so nice to see you here, Tatsumi!

(Ah, Cookies really are a nice treat...
He finishes his first.)
Your ankle okay? I know it's been a while, but sometimes, injuries like that take the longest to heal.
(But Snow really is strong. She may look small and feminine, but she pushes past her own pain to help others. That's admirable. Anyone would think so.
Tatsumi grabs another. He thinks so, too.)
